The Office of the Public Probate Administrator is a first-of-its-kind resource for Harris County designed to support people navigating the estate administration process.
The purpose of this Office is: (1) to provide resources to individuals who have the honor of fulfilling the last wishes of a friend or loved one, and (2) to step in to administer estates that are losing value because there are no known or available heirs.
For too long, the assets of those who pass away in Harris County have not been transferred to lawful beneficiaries due to inaction or lack of knowledge on the part of named Executors and Administrators of estates. The Office of the Public Probate Administrator aims to remedy this issue. This Office will work with community liaisons and partners to close the information gap and increase access to resources for everyone.
